Lesson 14 mentioned that the master mode staff roll is very difficult because blocks disappear as they lock.
You basically need to remember the terrain, and keep that up for about one minute.
Gravitate towards the wall
Your strategy should be to learn the terrain the best you can. However, you mustn't make it hard on yourself. In normal play, one should try to save up for a tetris, in the staff roll however, you should try to fill the terrain as effectively as possible, as shown here. Even when doing this, remembering the terrain is pretty hard to do. |
Choosing your surface
Normally it would be hard to recover from holes in the middle of the stack, but in order to easily remember the field, I don't try to remember the location of holes. In normal play you try to keep holes to a minimum, but during the staff roll it is important to pay attention to the landscape in general. The white line is how the field should look in your head. |
→ | Sometimes, you should leave holes to leave a terrain that's easy to remember. During the m-roll you should rebuild your floor. It's not likely that you can remember the existing terrain for long enough. |
Learn how many spare columns you have on the left
To make placing blocks easier, you should remember how many room there is in the left column. You should always try to have some spare room there. |
